In this course, students will look at the following key concepts:
- Atoms and Forces
- Experiments and Evidence
- Patterns in Chemical Behaviour and Reactions
- Chemical bonds
- Energy Changes
In addition, they will:
- Acquire knowledge and understanding and develop practical skills, including efficient, accurate and safe scientific practices
- Learn to apply the scientific method, while developing an awareness of the limitations of scientific theories and models
- Develop skills in data analysis, evaluation and drawing conclusions, cultivating attitudes relevant to science such as objectivity, integrity, enquiry, initiative and inventiveness
- Develop effective scientific communication skills, using appropriate terminology and scientific conventions
- Understand their responsibility to others/society and to care for the environment
- Enjoy science and develop an informed interest in the subject that may lead to further study.
Online Learning Environment
Signing up for this course gives provides students with:
- AS Level: 180 hours of online group lessons over 3 terms across 10 months of study
- A Level: 360 hours of online group lessons over 6 terms across 20 months of study
- Access to an online textbook
- Feedback on progress (termly parent-teacher video conferences)
- Access to a Google Drive and Google Classroom with course materials, resources and assignments to support learning
- A maximum of 10 students per class to ensure enough individual attention and support
- Teacher with extensive KS5 experience
Cost
- AS Level: The cost of the course is US$ 2700 USD split into 3 termly payments of US$ 900
- A Level: The cost of the course is US$ 5400 USD split into 6 termly payments of US$ 900
- If your circumstances change, students can withdraw from the course before the commencement of the next term (meaning you are not locked into to the entire course)
